Bridgeway Center receives $20,000 grant to expand psychiatric services in Okaloosa, Walton counties

United Way Emerald Coast funding will support behavioral health care access for local families seeking mental health and substance use treatment.

Bridgeway Center, Inc. has been awarded a $20,000 Community Investment Grant from United Way Emerald Coast to expand its Psychiatric Medicine Program serving residents across Okaloosa and Walton counties.

  • The funding will directly support the nonprofit’s efforts to increase access to behavioral health care for individuals and families in need throughout the region. Bridgeway Center’s Psychiatric Medicine team focuses on diagnosing, treating and managing mental health and substance use conditions.

The organization said the grant will allow it to enhance these services while maintaining evidence-based care standards. Bridgeway Center provides what it describes as compassionate, evidence-based care to clients seeking mental health treatment.

“Thank you, UWEC, for helping us continue our mission to serve with integrity, compassion, and excellence,” the organization stated in announcing the grant.

United Way Emerald Coast’s Community Investment Grant program supports local nonprofits working to address community needs. The partnership between the two organizations aims to build what Bridgeway Center calls “a healthier, more hopeful future for our region.”

The Psychiatric Medicine Program represents a critical component of behavioral health services available to residents in the two-county area, where access to mental health care continues to be a community priority.
