Coastal Realty Services is hosting its second annual Shine-Off Competition, inviting South Okaloosa County residents to show off their Christmas light displays for a chance at cash prizes.

  • The competition is open to residential properties in Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Mary Esther and Shalimar. Entry is free with no restrictions on display size, and there is no limit to the number of participants.

Winners will receive cash prizes: $100 for first place, $50 for second place, $25 for third place and $50 for the Crowd Favorite category. Winners will also receive yard signs and be featured in a Get The Coast article.

“It was so much fun hosting the first-ever Shine-Off Competition last year, and we’re thrilled to bring it back again,” said Katie Coleman, marketing manager for Coastal Realty Services. “What started as a fun idea to bring the community together and spread holiday cheer across South Okaloosa County has quickly become one of our favorite traditions.”

Coleman said many team members grew up driving around to look at Christmas lights, inspiring the friendly competition.

  • “The Shine-Off is all about community pride, creativity, and making lasting memories with family and friends,” Coleman said. “We can’t wait to see even more homes light up the season and make South Okaloosa County shine brighter than ever.”

Entries opened Nov. 25 and close Dec. 14. Judging will take place Dec. 15, with prizes and yard signs delivered Dec. 16-17.

Members of Coastal Realty Services will judge and select the first, second and third place winners. The Crowd Favorite will be determined by community voting on the company’s Facebook page, where each participant’s photo will be posted and the display with the most likes will win.

  • Participating home addresses will not be shared publicly unless a participant specifically requests it.
