A Crestview woman has been charged with moving more than $10,000 into her personal bank account from the account of an elderly woman she was supposed to be helping, according to a press release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Between June 16, 2021, and May 17, 2022, investigators say 62-year old Rhonda Spence Cain used the money for her own personal gain, not for the benefit of the 79-year old victim, who lives in an assisted living facility.

The Victim told investigators that Cain had a Durable Power of Attorney and had access to her bank account to help purchase groceries and other needed items. The Power of Attorney was voided on January 3, 2023, when the victim realized that the Defendant had allegedly taken $13,900.00 out her account.

According to the arrest report, Cain is charged with grand theft over $10,000 and elderly exploitation.

  1. There’s always a second opinion, I know I worked with Jean! I can’t believe Rhonda is getting smeared this way!
