Fort Walton Beach code compliance sweep scheduled for South Bayou neighborhood Thursday

Code enforcement officers will cover area north of Beal Parkway to the bayou from Howell Drive to Sleepy Oaks Road from 9 a.m. to noon.

The City of Fort Walton Beach Code Enforcement team will hold its next Community Code Compliance Sweep from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, in the South Bayou neighborhood as part of the city’s “Cleanest City on the Emerald Coast” initiative.

  • Code enforcement officers will cover the area north of Beal Parkway to the bayou from Howell Drive east to Sleepy Oaks Road.

The goal of this effort is to allow code enforcement officers to engage with the community, raise awareness about local code requirements, and encourage voluntary compliance before issuing any citations or fines.

Common violations that city code enforcement officers find include inoperable vehicles or vehicles parked on the roadway for more than 72 hours, overgrown grass and uncontrolled vegetation, and accumulation of litter, junk, or debris in yards.

  • Additional violations include garbage cans left curbside after collection and unpermitted construction or property work.

The Community Code Compliance Sweeps will be scheduled every couple of weeks, focusing on different neighborhoods as the city continues this initiative throughout Fort Walton Beach.

The city emphasized its appreciation for cooperation in helping keep Fort Walton Beach a clean, safe, and beautiful place to live.
