Two Fort Walton Beach adults face multiple child neglect charges after authorities reportedly discovered a young nude child running across four lanes of traffic Sunday morning, according to a press release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to calls around 9 a.m. on September 8, 2024, about a naked child in the area of Green Acres Road and Green Acres Boulevard. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies safely recovered the boy, who was reportedly covered in feces, after he nearly got hit by vehicles.

The press release states that deputies recognized the child from previous incidents and took him to a nearby residence where they allegedly found a second nude child running in the neighborhood.

  • Both children were reportedly under the age of 12 and had feces on their bodies.

Upon entering the home, deputies and an investigator reported finding what they described as “deplorable conditions” throughout the residence. According to the arrest report, they observed feces on floors and walls, unknown liquids on floors, and a prevalent odor of urine and feces.

  • The report also states that broken electrical outlets and prescription medications were within reach of the children.

The sheriff’s office arrested Danielle Roberson, 34, and Jacob Roberson, 32, charging each with five counts of child neglect. According to the press release, the charges involve a total of five children under the age of 12 living in the home.

  • According to the arrest report, one child told investigators he wears shoes in the house to avoid stepping on dirty floors.

The Sheriff’s Office states that the Department of Children and Families is also investigating the case.
