A Fort Walton Beach oral surgeon who grew up along the Emerald Coast has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to serve on the Florida Board of Dentistry.

  • Dr. Chadwick Marshall, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with Gulf Coast Facial & Oral Surgery, joins the 11-member board responsible for regulating dental and dental hygiene licenses statewide. The board enforces laws, establishes rules and ensures practitioners meet qualifications for licensure and maintain safe care delivery.

“The Florida Board of Dentistry helps ensure patient safety and a higher standard of patient care, and I’m truly honored to be a part of that,” Marshall said.

The appointment requires Senate confirmation.

Marshall treats patients at Gulf Coast Facial & Oral Surgery’s Fort Walton Beach office, which provides full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery services to patients along the Emerald Coast.

He is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery, the highest credential available in the specialty, according to the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He serves as a board member of the Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, where he previously served as president.

  • His professional memberships include the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Okaloosa-Walton Dental Study Club.

Marshall has presented nationally and internationally on topics including craniofacial reconstruction, facial cosmetic surgery, trauma and temporomandibular joint surgery.

A Choctawhatchee High School graduate, Marshall earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and both his dental degree and medical degree from the University of Florida.

He completed a general surgery internship and oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at UF Health Shands Hospital, followed by a fellowship in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

“Dr. Marshall is an exceptional oral and maxillofacial surgeon,” said Doug Drew, CEO of U.S. Oral Surgery Management, the practice management company partnered with Gulf Coast Facial & Oral Surgery. “He is a leader in his community and throughout the OMS specialty. In addition, he is deeply dedicated to clinical excellence, particularly how it relates to patient safety, which is also a main focus of the board.”
