The City of Fort Walton Beach Code Enforcement team will hold its second Community Code Compliance Sweep on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, as part of the city’s “Cleanest City on the Emerald Coast” initiative.

  • Code enforcement officers will cover the area from Jonquil Avenue east to Marilyn Avenue and from Mary Esther Cutoff south to Rogers Street.

The primary goal of this effort is to allow code enforcement officers to engage with the community, raise awareness about local code requirements, and encourage voluntary compliance before issuing any citations or fines, according to the city.

Common violations that city code enforcement officers find include:

  • Inoperable vehicles or vehicles parked on the roadway for more than 72 hours.
  • Overgrown grass and uncontrolled vegetation.
  • Accumulation of litter, junk, or debris in yards.

Additional violations include garbage cans left curbside after collection and unpermitted construction or property work.

The Community Code Compliance Sweeps will be scheduled every couple of weeks, focusing on different neighborhoods as the city continues this initiative throughout Fort Walton Beach.
