A new master-planned residential community will hold its grand opening Thursday, Sept. 18 in Freeport with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring food, beverages and home tours.

  • NatureView, developed by the Jay Odom Group, will hold its grand opening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the community clubhouse at 6932 County Highway 3280. The event will include raffles and builder-hosted open house tours by DSLD Homes and Holiday Builders.

The wellness-focused community spans 792 homesites on 276 private acres surrounded by more than 55,000 acres of preserved forest owned by Nokuse Plantation and the State of Florida.

The development is located nine miles north of the beaches and Scenic Highway 30A.

“We’re thrilled to officially open NatureView and celebrate this milestone with the community,” said Jay Odom, developer of NatureView. “Freeport has become the fastest-growing city in Florida for ten years in a row, and NatureView provides the perfect balance of preservation, purpose, and everyday living.”

NatureView was designed as Walton County’s Bear Wise neighborhood to support safe coexistence with wildlife. The community has partnerships with Nokuse Plantation and the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center to promote environmental education and preservation.

The community’s amenities include a clubhouse with coffee bar, ping pong, shuffleboard and gathering spaces; a 24-hour fitness center and yoga studio; a resort-style zero-entry pool; pickleball and basketball courts; a children’s playground; miles of nature and fitness trails with exercise stations; and pocket parks throughout the development.

  • NatureView will launch the NatureView Hero Homez initiative, through which five homes will be donated to local military service members, first responders and other community heroes.

Odom said the community is designed for families, military heroes and nature lovers, with world-class amenities, new homes and programs like NatureView Hero Homez that are “designed to uplift and inspire.”

“What a great history for the town of Shalimar. I lived, grew up and went to school there. Now I'm back after 20 years and still love my town.”

“I like the pedestrian bridge idea but I wonder if it would have to be too tall to accomodate harbor boat traffic. Very interesting concept!”

“With a rock seawall along the water it’s not a beach, just a patch of sand. Take the docks out, add some parking and call it a day”

“Since there is very limited transient docks available in Destin, the docks should be available for guests with overnight parking. The City should consider a Pedestrian Bridge over the Harbor...”
