The City of Niceville will hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Old Town Landing Dock and Pier at 10 a.m. Oct. 6, an event the city calls a milestone in the ongoing revitalization of the Niceville Landing area.

• The city is inviting residents, businesses, community leaders and visitors to attend. The event is open to the public, and no RSVP is required.

The dock and pier is the first stage of completion in the Niceville Community Redevelopment Agency’s multi-phase plan for a comprehensive Niceville Landing Rehabilitation Project, according to the city.

Funding for the project came from the Niceville CRA, Okaloosa County Tourist Development funds and a Florida Boating Improvement Grant from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

“We are grateful to the partners who made this project possible,” said Mayor and CRA Board Member Daniel Henkel.

Henkel said the project is meant to serve both residents and local businesses.

“The new dock and pier will create a place where our community can come together, enjoy our waterfront, and make lasting memories,” Henkel said. “At the same time, this investment will help bring more activity to Old Town Landing and create new opportunities for local commerce.”
