NWF Track Club’s Thanksgiving ‘Recycle Run’ raises over 520 pounds of food for local food bank

Over 375 runners and walkers contributed non-perishable food items while participating in the annual event that features recycled race merchandise.

The Northwest Florida Track Club’s annual Recycle Run brought over 375 participants to the finish line on Thanksgiving morning, collecting more than 520 pounds of food for Fort Walton Beach’s Sharing & Caring.

  • The event required each participant to pay a $10 entry fee and donate non-perishable food items. The donations will support Sharing & Caring, an organization that provides emergency food services for community members in need.

True to its name, the Recycle Run incorporated sustainability into its operations. Each participant selected a T-shirt from previous races rather than receiving new merchandise. Award winners chose their prizes from a collection of trophies from past races.

The food collected will benefit Fort Walton Beach residents through Sharing & Caring’s community food assistance programs located at 126 Beal Parkway SW, Fort Walton Beach.
