So there I was, drinking a beer with my wife in the kitchen as she scrolled through Instagram when she suddenly began to laugh.

Naturally, I asked her, “What’s so funny?”

She says, “Oklahoosa Island”, and proceeds to show me recent Instagram Stories where users have tagged themselves presumably on Okaloosa Island…but Instagram has it wrong!

Oklahoosa Island Beach

As we tap through the Stories all grouped together by location, we can see that every 👏 single 👏 one 👏 of 👏 them 👏 has been marked as Oklahoosa.

What’s weird is that when you open the map on an iPhone it takes you to the default Apple Maps app. I was expecting the Maps app to have the correct spelling, but was met with Oklahoosa Island.

And on the desktop version of Instagram they are using Nokia’s map service “Here”, that surprisingly has it correct on their own website but not within the map shown on Instagram.

At any rate, Oklahoosa Island Beach is a new one for me! I’ll be sure to visit this mysterious beach sometime this summer!

Tag us on Instagram if you head out that way! 😂
