Florida Power & Light has essentially completed power restoration in six of the eight counties affected by Hurricane Isaias, including Okaloosa and Walton, the company said in a release issued Monday night.

  • As of early Tuesday morning, 20 FPL customers in Okaloosa County and 10 in Walton County remained without power, according to the company’s outage tracker.

FPL said it has restored power to more than 85% of customers impacted by the storm. As of 10 p.m. Monday, more than 380,000 outages had been restored, according to the company.

FPL also restored power to all critical infrastructure facilities and schools scheduled to be open Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Crews are still working in the hardest-hit areas of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and remain on track to essentially complete restoration there by the end of the day Tuesday, the company said.

“Thousands of men and women are working around the clock, navigating downed trees, debris and difficult conditions to reach our customers in Santa Rosa and Escambia counties,” said FPL President and CEO Scott Bores. “We will keep pushing forward safely in all counties until every customer who can receive power is restored.”

Flickers and outages possible

Even after power is restored, some customers may continue to experience outages or flickers as crews find and repair storm damage that was not immediately visible, according to FPL.

If your home cannot accept power

Some homes and businesses may have damage that makes them unable to safely accept power. Those customers should hire a licensed electrician to make repairs, the company said.

Eligible customers may qualify for financial assistance through FPL’s Care to Share program to help offset the cost of repairing electrical equipment needed to safely receive service. Applications are available at FPL.com/assistance.

Help and outage reporting

Customers without power can visit one of more than 10 FPL customer outage relief stations across the region for ice, water and answers to restoration questions. Locations are listed at fplmaps.com/reliefsites.

Customers can report outages at FPL.com or by calling 1-800-4-OUTAGE (1-800-468-8243), and can track restoration at FPLmaps.com/northwest.
