A suspect is in custody following a shooting incident on Stella Drive that prompted lockdowns at two nearby schools Thursday morning, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office said.

  • The sheriff’s office responded to the scene and placed Freeport Elementary School and Freeport Learning Center on lockdown as a precaution. There was an increased law enforcement presence in the area.

North Jackson Avenue was shut down between Highway 20 and Old Eucheeanna Road during the response. The sheriff’s office said it was searching for a 15-year-old white male with reddish brown hair who was considered armed and dangerous.
