United Way Emerald Coast celebrated a year of significant community impact at its sold-out Annual Meeting Tuesday evening at The Place on Beal in Fort Walton Beach.

  • The event, presented by Eglin Federal Credit Union, brought together more than 100 stakeholders including donors, volunteers, board members, elected officials, community leaders and partners to recognize the organization’s achievements from the 2024-2025 year.

“This past year was proof of what we can accomplish when we work together for the greater good,” said Kelly Jasen, United Way Emerald Coast president and CEO. “From expanding our reach to deepening our partnerships, United Way Emerald Coast continues to show up for this community in meaningful ways. We’re proud of what we’ve done and even more excited about what’s to come.”

United Way Emerald Coast’s achievements included: coordinating 17,135 volunteer hours and impacting more than 56,000 lives across Okaloosa and Walton counties. Awarding more than $700,000 through 63 grants to 34 local vetted nonprofit programs

  • Contributing to a total community impact of $2.6 million — an increase of more than $200,000 from the prior year.

The evening included recognition of corporate partners through the President’s Circle awards. This year’s recipients were Eglin Federal Credit Union and Forever Warriors by Step One Automotive Group, honored for their commitment to giving back to the community.

Outgoing Board Chair Matt Zasada of Carr, Riggs & Ingram reflected on his tenure during the program.

“It’s been a privilege to serve alongside such a mission-driven team,” Zasada said. “United Way Emerald Coast is more than an organization; it’s a catalyst for change and a trusted partner in our community. I leave this role feeling proud, inspired, and optimistic about what lies ahead.”

  • Sheila Fitzgerald was recognized as the incoming board chair during the transition ceremony. The organization also accepted its first corporate contribution toward the new fiscal year from Florida Power and Light during the event.
