Week 9 brought high school football back with a bang after Hurricane Isaias, with Niceville and Crestview delivering the game of the year. Now it’s on to Week 10.

Schedule

All games kick off at 7 p.m. CT unless otherwise noted.

Thursday, Oct. 22

  • South Walton at Bay (district)

Friday, Oct. 23

  • Gulf Breeze at Choctaw (district)
  • Walton at Pensacola Catholic (district), 7:30 p.m. CT
  • Fort Walton Beach at Booker T. Washington (district)
  • Destin at Freeport (district)
  • Crestview at Navarre (district), 7:30 p.m. CT
  • Niceville at Dunnellon, 7:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. CT)
  • Baker at Northview (district)
  • Rocky Bayou at Maclay, 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT)

Predictions

I went 4-1 last week and am 43-22 on the year overall. Here are my picks for Week 10.

South Walton 35, Bay 28

Tommy Oliver Stadium is a tough place to play, but with the district title on the line, the Seahawks have the talent to get it done, and they will.

Choctaw 56, Gulf Breeze 0

This game is not only Choctaw’s homecoming, but coach Frank Beasley is also pursuing his 50th win at his alma mater. Gulf Breeze, on the other hand, has not won a game in two years and carries a 19-game losing streak.

Pensacola Catholic 24, Walton 21

Walton will be eager to bounce back after facing South Walton, but going on the road against Pensacola Catholic for what is now the Crusaders’ homecoming wouldn’t be the best place to look for it, in my opinion. The Braves keep it close and could win, but I’m going with the Crusaders.

Booker T. Washington 24, Fort Walton Beach 14

The Vikings are looking to snap a two-game skid, but Booker T. Washington still has hope of an at-large bid and plenty to play for. I’m picking Booker T. Washington, a result that would end Fort Walton Beach’s playoff hopes.

Freeport 35, Destin 31

This one could go either way, but I think the tiebreaker is having the game at Freeport, so the Bulldogs win.

Crestview 42, Navarre 7

Throughout October, the Bulldogs have looked like the team we expected to see in the preseason. That continues here, as Crestview picks up a win that builds momentum heading into 2027.

Niceville 35, Dunnellon 28

Dunnellon is undefeated, but it has played a really easy schedule and has not faced an opponent of Niceville’s quality. With that being said, Niceville should win, though Dunnellon could easily come out on top, since the drive to Ocala combined with looking ahead to Pace could hurt the Eagles.

Baker 49, Northview 28

Baker beat Destin, which defeated Northview by multiple scores. The Gators are favored here, and there’s no reason to overthink it.
