Wright Parkway roadwork begins Tuesday for stormwater repairs in Fort Walton Beach

Contractor will repair pipes beneath the roadway between Hollywood Boulevard and Fort Walton Beach High School stadium entrance through Thursday.

Roadwork is scheduled to begin Tuesday morning on Wright Parkway to repair stormwater infrastructure beneath the roadway between Hollywood Boulevard and the entrance to the Fort Walton Beach High School football stadium.

  • The project is expected to start at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025, and is scheduled for completion sometime Thursday, July 10, 2025. All work is weather-dependent and may need to be rescheduled in the event of rain, as the work involves pipes that carry stormwater away.

The contractor will inject specially designed sealant compounds into the ground around the storm pipe to seal cracks and fill voids in the piping. This process will eliminate the infiltration of groundwater into the stormwater system.

Motorists will encounter temporary traffic control devices, possibly flaggers, and limited lane closures affecting the middle turn lane during construction. Current plans do not require a full road closure, and both northbound and southbound lanes will remain accessible during construction.

Officials are urging motorists to exercise caution when traveling this section of Wright Parkway during the repair work.
