Alaqua Animal Refuge is calling on golfers and animal lovers across the Emerald Coast to mark their calendars for the 5th Annual FORE! The Love of Animals Golf Tournament, presented by Sandestin Investments, on Saturday, May 9 at The Links Golf Club at Sandestin in Miramar Beach.

  • The signature fundraising event, now returning to The Links Golf Club for a fifth consecutive year, brings together golfers, animal advocates, and community leaders for a day on the course where every swing supports the refuge’s lifesaving work — from rescue operations and veterinary care to rehabilitation and adoption programs serving animals throughout the Southeast.

This year’s tournament carries special significance, according to Alaqua founder Laurie Hood, who pointed to the seven remaining Hurricane Milton dogs still in the refuge’s care as a reminder of the organization’s critical mission.

“The FORE! The Love of Animals golf tournament has always been about bringing people together for a great cause, but this year feels especially meaningful,” Hood said. “The seven remaining Hurricane Milton dogs are a powerful symbol of why Alaqua exists — to be there when animals have nowhere else to go.”

Hood expressed gratitude to presenting sponsor Sandestin Investments for making the event possible and issued a call to action for the community to adopt, support, and help find loving homes for the storm-surviving dogs.

  • “Together, we’re pairing an incredible day on the course with a renewed call to action,” she said.

The tournament features 18 holes of championship golf in a scramble format with a shotgun start, played against the scenic background of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Participants can look forward to on-course contests, raffles, awards, and the fan-favorite “Pups & Pours” after party to cap off the day.

Registration is open for teams of four, and individual players will be paired to complete a team. Each registration includes 18 holes with a cart, a boxed lunch, two drink tickets, and access to the after party.

Golfers looking to lock in a deal can take advantage of Fast Fetch Pricing, available now through March 9, which offers team registrations at $750 per team. After the early-bird window closes, individual registration is $250 and team registration is $850.

  • The registration deadline is Monday, May 4.

The tournament is proudly presented by The Agency — Northwest Florida Beaches, Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, and Hotel Effie Sandestin, Autograph Collection.
