Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast has welcomed Dr. Janet Hamby, an obstetrician-gynecologist, to its Bluewater Bay practice, the hospital announced.

  • Hamby brings more than three decades of experience in labor and delivery. She will begin seeing patients May 19 at Ascension Sacred Heart OB-GYN – Bluewater Bay, located at 4586 Florida 20A in Niceville. She will deliver babies at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast’s Family Birth Place.

“We know people have been asking for a long time ‘where is Dr. Hamby,’ we are proud to say today that she is part of our award-winning Family Birth Place team,” said Trey Abshier, president and CEO of Sacred Heart Emerald Coast. “Hiring Dr. Hamby is one of the ways we are continuing to expand access to maternity care for the communities we serve.”

Before joining Ascension, Hamby worked at another medical facility in the community, where she served as vice chief of medical staff and practiced as an obstetrician and gynecologist.

“From the very start, I knew I wanted to be in labor and delivery, starting out as a nurse and following my passion to complete my medical degree to become an obstetrician and gynecologist,” Hamby said. “I am excited to continue to serve in this community I have also grown to love.”

Hamby earned her medical degree from the University of Sint Eustatius and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. Before pursuing her medical degree, she worked as a nurse, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville State University in Alabama and her Associate Degree in Nursing from Wallace State University in Wallace, Alabama.

Hamby welcomes former patients to schedule appointments and is also accepting new patients. To make an appointment, call 850-897-0110.
