Destin made quite a statement in its first official game as a full-fledged FHSAA member Friday night, routing Port St. Joe 53-13 and completely flipping the script from last year’s 30-7 loss at the hands of the Tiger Sharks.
- Donnie Couitt set the tone early with a touchdown on the opening drive, and the Sharks never looked back.
From there, Kellen Ramsey took over through the air, throwing four touchdowns on the night. Two of those went to Chase Wandrick, while Cameron Kerns and Couitt each hauled in a receiving touchdown as well.
Destin led 17-7 at the end of the first quarter, then exploded in the second, scoring 29 points to take a commanding 46-13 lead into halftime.
The Sharks added another score in the third quarter to trigger a running clock and cruised to the 53-13 victory.
The win marked a complete reversal from last season’s meeting, when Port St. Joe handed Destin a 30-7 defeat.
One year later, it was the Sharks delivering the lopsided result.
