It’s a breakthrough year for the Lady Sharks.
After years of promising season after promising season, Destin is making quite the splash in 2026. Under first-year head coach Dominic Fasula, Destin is 10-6 overall and 2-0 in district play, with all six losses coming against schools in Class 4A or larger.
The Lady Sharks are in position for not just a playoff berth, but very well could end up with the first home playoff game in Destin High School history.
“It’s been a special group to coach this year. They’ve really stepped up past couple of games, sky’s the limit for them, it’s a great opportunity to put Destin on the map,” Fasula said.

At the heart of it all is Citadel commit Kenzi Prosser. Prosser, a senior, has 234 kills and 193 digs on the year.
Fasula’s thoughts on her are simple.
- “She’s a complete player. All the details that matter to gameplay she brings, she uplifts her teammates, she raises the bar for everyone, couldn’t ask for a better captain,” Fasula said.
Victoria Silva, with 80 kills, and Isabella Volpe, with 70 kills, provide strong support behind Prosser.
“Seeing these girls turn the corner, they’ve always been strong players, but to see them take it to the next level, they’re a dangerous trio,” Fasula said.
Meanwhile, Angel Wilson and Kaylee Kaiser anchor a strong front line with 51 blocks combined between them, while setter Neilya Stewart has 118 digs and Haley Mikel has 24 assists out of the back row.
“Haley is my general in the back row. She has been a high performer all season. Neilya, I’ve never had a scrappier setter. Super proud of that kid. She really goes for every ball, she’s smart, and she’s placing balls for our hitters to make plays,” Fasula said.
That 10-6 record and tough schedule highlight one thing for the Lady Sharks: their resiliency.
“We’ve had a tough schedule. We’re 10-6. All six of our losses are schools that are 4A and higher. We’re playing with the best that the state offers, they’re really trained to swing above their weight class,” Fasula said.
Still, Fasula wants to see complete sets consistently.
“Complete sets. Making sure that regardless of the score may be, making sure we’re showing no mercy and staying relentless,” Fasula said.
But regardless of what happens, it’s been a special year for Destin volleyball.
