Eglin Air Force Base to conduct munitions testing in the Gulf

The Air Force will test munitions in Gulf waters Aug. 26, requiring vessels to avoid a large area south of Fort Walton Beach.

The Air Force will conduct munitions testing in the Gulf on Tuesday, August 26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., according to a news release from Eglin Air Force Base.

  • Back-up missions are scheduled for Aug. 27 and 28 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

All vessels must remain clear of the active hazard area during the tests, which extends approximately 30 nautical miles south of Fort Walton Beach and approximately 70 nautical miles south of Apalachicola.

The Eglin Joint Test and Training Operations Control Center will broadcast advisories and local notice to mariners on Channel 16 and HF upper sideband 2182 kilohertz.
