The City of Fort Walton Beach Code Enforcement Team will conduct its first Community Code Compliance Sweep on Thursday as part of the city’s “Cleanest City on the Emerald Coast” initiative.

  • The sweep will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, covering the area from Third Street to Highway 98, and from Eglin Parkway to Alder Avenue.

The primary goal of this effort is to engage with the community, raise awareness about local code requirements, and encourage voluntary compliance before issuing any citations or fines, according to the city.

The city will provide additional notice for upcoming sweeps as the initiative continues throughout Fort Walton Beach.

Code enforcement will focus on several common violations during the sweep. These include:

  • Inoperable vehicles or vehicles parked on the roadway for more than 72 hours.
  • Overgrown grass and uncontrolled vegetation.
  • Accumulation of litter, junk, or debris in yards.
  • Garbage cans left curbside after collection.
  • Unpermitted construction or property work.

The city emphasized its appreciation for cooperation in helping keep Fort Walton Beach a “clean, safe, and beautiful place to live.”
