A motorcyclist was killed on April 4 after a collision with a vehicle on Eglin Parkway in Fort Walton Beach, police said.

Levi Elmore was traveling northbound on a motorcycle in the center lane of Eglin Parkway (State Road 85) at approximately 8:05 p.m. when the driver of a black Maserati Ghibli attempted to make a left turn across the northbound lanes while traveling southbound, according to a Fort Walton Beach Police Department press release.

The motorcycle collided with the vehicle, and Elmore was ejected, the release states. Elmore was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.

The crash occurred in front of Dodge’s Southern Style, located at 1 Eglin Pkwy SE.

The Fort Walton Beach Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident. No charges have been filed, and no additional details were available as of the department’s April 9 release.
