Four injured in helicopter crash at Destin Executive Airport

All four passengers transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after touring helicopter crashes on runway Thursday evening.

Four people were injured Thursday evening when a touring helicopter reportedly crashed on the runway at Destin Executive Airport, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

  • The crash occurred around 6:45 p.m., prompting a response from the sheriff’s office and emergency personnel. All four individuals on board the helicopter were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The OCSO Airport Security Unit responded to the scene and is conducting an investigation into the crash.

Okaloosa County has confirmed that FAA and NTSB are on the way to investigate, and that the airfield has been closed until further notice.

“We are grateful there were no serious injuries and thank all responding agencies for their quick and coordinated efforts,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
