HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital celebrates construction milestone for DeFuniak Springs emergency room

The $19 million freestanding facility will provide 24/7 emergency care to Walton County residents starting in early January 2026.

HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital celebrated a construction milestone for its new emergency room facility in DeFuniak Springs with a topping-off ceremony Nov. 17, bringing the $19 million project closer to completion.

  • The ceremony at the future HCA Florida DeFuniak Springs Emergency site celebrated the completion of the structure’s highest point.

Local leaders including DeFuniak Springs Mayor Bob Campbell, City Manager Koby Townsend and several city council members attended the event, along with first responders, community stakeholders, healthcare professionals and project partners. 

“Our team is looking forward to bringing around-the-clock high-quality emergency care into the heart of Walton County delivered by board-certified physicians,” said Todd Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital. “HCA Florida DeFuniak Springs Emergency also seamlessly connects to our broader HCA Florida Healthcare network, meaning the Walton County community can count on expert local care backed by the added strength and resources of our statewide network.”

The 11,570-square-foot facility at 160 Twin Springs Way is scheduled to open in early January 2026. The freestanding emergency room will offer 24/7 emergency care to residents of DeFuniak Springs and surrounding Walton County communities.

  • Board-certified emergency medicine physicians, nurses and healthcare professionals will staff the facility, providing specialized emergency care for patients of all ages, including children. The emergency room will feature 10 private patient care rooms, a trauma and cardiopulmonary resuscitation room, CT scan, digital X-ray and an on-site laboratory.

Once operational, the facility is expected to employ approximately 35 full-time healthcare professionals.
