The inaugural Rally On the Court pickleball and tennis tournament raised more than $10,000 for childhood cancer research, according to Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research – Gulf Coast.

  • Rally Gulf Coast held the two-day tournament Sept. 25-26 at the Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center in partnership with the city of Fort Walton Beach and USTA Florida.

The event brought together players, community partners, sponsors, volunteers and supporters to support children and families facing childhood cancer, according to the organization.

“We were thrilled to see our local and surrounding tennis and pickleball communities come together for the first Rally On the Court,” said Bryce Hines, development associate for Rally Gulf Coast. “This event was about more than getting on the court. It was about bringing people together to support children and families facing childhood cancer, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who played, volunteered, sponsored and supported this first event.”

The money raised will help Rally continue investing in childhood cancer research while also supporting families during their child’s cancer journey, according to the organization.

Rally Gulf Coast said the support of the city of Fort Walton Beach and USTA Florida helped bring local and surrounding tennis and pickleball communities together and introduce more players to Rally’s mission.

Rally Gulf Coast was formed in 2015 and has raised more than $8 million locally, providing resources for pediatric oncology families along the Florida Panhandle and in south Alabama, according to the organization.
