The Lady Vikings are district champions for the third straight year.

  • Fort Walton Beach rolled past rival Choctaw 7-0 on April 30 to secure the season sweep and a district title three-peat — a far more decisive outcome than last year’s 10-inning thriller against Arnold.

Izzy Douglas tossed a no-hitter, and the Fort Walton offense made sure she never had to sweat it.

The Lady Vikings got on the board first when Anna Beyhl ripped an RBI double to score Brenna Williams. Then the floodgates opened in the fourth. Elyse Heymann delivered a two-RBI single that plated Anna Abernathy and Ava Blankenship, stretching the lead.

Fort Walton put it away in the fifth. Williams homered, Blankenship added an RBI double that scored Beyhl, and Meredith Miller drove in Charley Hagood with a sacrifice ground out to make it 7-0.

Douglas handled the rest.

The win marks Fort Walton’s 10th in a row, and the Lady Vikings have shaped up as a team few want to face in the playoffs. Heading into Friday’s bracket release, Fort Walton appears locked into the No. 3 seed.
