Niceville girls tennis sweeps Chiles to claim regional championship, stays unbeaten

The Eagles did not drop a singles match on the road in Tallahassee, shutting out Chiles 5-0 to move to 15-0 on the season.

Niceville High School girls tennis rolled to a 5-0 victory over host Chiles on Thursday to win the FHSAA Class 3A, Region 1 final and push its record to a perfect 15-0.

  • The Lady Eagles swept all five singles matches, with four of the five wins coming in straight sets.

At No. 1 singles, senior Annaliese Drab set the tone with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Chiles senior Isabella Venclauskas. Drab enters the state tournament with a 19-4 record.

The lone three-set battle came at No. 2 singles, where senior Audrey Hill dropped the opening set 2-6 before rallying to beat Chiles junior Jennifer Egan 6-2 in the second set and 10-5 in the deciding tiebreaker. Hill is also 19-4 on the season.

Sophomore Eleanor Randolph, who sits at 19-2, followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles over Aubrey Rodriguez. Junior Isabella Faccini, owner of an 18-1 record, took care of business at No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Izzy Cummings.

Sophomore Savannah McOuat capped the sweep at No. 5 singles, defeating Shivani Kishor 6-1, 6-0. McOuat is 15-2 on the year.

The Eagles, who finished district play 7-0 and claimed the district championship, now turn their attention to the FHSAA Class 3A state tournament at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, with play scheduled for April 29 through May 1.
