Calvin Chilton, Seacoast Collegiate High School senior, signed with Liberty University on April 24 to continue his academic and athletic career in track and field.
- Chilton has competed at several of the nation’s top meets during his high school career. He placed in the top eight at Nike Outdoor Nationals in 2023 and finished fourth at the AAU Junior Olympics in 2024. He also qualified for both Nike and New Balance Indoor Nationals last year and again this year, though injury kept him from competing.
This summer, Chilton plans to compete at Under Armour Outdoor Nationals in May and hopes to qualify for the USA Under-20 Nationals in Eugene, Oregon, in June. He also represented Seacoast Collegiate this year as a member of the school’s golf team.
In the classroom, Chilton has excelled as a dual enrollment student through Northwest Florida State College. He will graduate in May with both his Associate of Arts degree and his high school diploma from Seacoast Collegiate High School. He holds a 4.0 college GPA and a 4.426 weighted high school GPA.
- “Signing with Liberty University is a dream come true for me,” Chilton said. “I’m incredibly grateful for my family, my coaches, my teammates and everyone at Seacoast who has supported me along the way. This next chapter is exciting, and I’m ready to continue pushing myself both academically and athletically at the next level.”
Drew Ward, principal and interim executive director of Seacoast Collegiate High School, said Chilton represents what the school works to cultivate in its students.
“Calvin is an exceptional example of discipline, determination and leadership,” Ward said. “His commitment to excellence both in the classroom and in competition has been inspiring to our entire school community. We are incredibly proud of all he has accomplished and look forward to seeing him continue to thrive at Liberty University.”
Chilton heads to Liberty University this fall after a busy spring and summer of competition, with his sights set on national meets before he begins the next chapter of his track and field career.
