Northwest Florida State College doubles the number of programs covered by its money-back guarantee

The college expanded the tuition guarantee from three workforce programs to six, adding physical therapist assistant, medical laboratory technology and early childhood education.

Northwest Florida State College is doubling the number of programs eligible for its Money-Back Guarantee Program, adding three high-demand workforce tracks to the initiative that launched in 2024.

  • Beginning July 1, the college will guarantee tuition refunds in six programs after previously covering three. The physical therapist assistant, medical laboratory technology and early childhood education associate degree programs join the existing guarantee for nursing, radiography and the paramedic college credit certificate.

Under the program, eligible graduates who are unable to find employment in their field within six months of graduation can receive a full tuition refund, provided they meet academic, attendance and job search requirements set by the college and the state. The guarantee is also conditioned on meeting all regulatory requirements.

“This expansion reflects our confidence in the quality of our academic programs and, more importantly, in the success of our students,” NWFSC President Mel Ponder said. “These six programs prepare graduates for some of our region’s most essential careers, and their outcomes consistently demonstrate the value of a Northwest Florida State College education.”

The three newly added programs each carry strong workforce outcomes. The physical therapist assistant program has posted a 100% employment rate among licensed graduates over its past three graduating cohorts. The medical laboratory technology program has maintained 100% employment placement for graduates seeking jobs in the field or continuing their education, with ASCP certification pass rates ranging from 80% to 100%. The early childhood education program addresses a regional workforce need, with nearly 2,000 annual job openings for early childhood professionals across Northwest Florida.

The college’s healthcare programs have also drawn recent recognition. Earlier this year, NWFSC’s School of Nursing achieved a 100% first-quarter NCLEX-RN pass rate.

Since the Money-Back Guarantee Program launched in 2024 with its original three programs, no tuition refund has been issued, according to the college.

  • The program was established by the Florida Legislature to help students pursue high-demand careers with added confidence in their educational investment while supporting the state’s workforce needs.

“Our mission is to prepare students for meaningful careers that strengthen our communities and meet the workforce needs of our region,” Ponder said. “Expanding the Money-Back Guarantee is another way we’re demonstrating that an education at Northwest Florida State College is an investment students can make with confidence.”
