The City of Crestview is gearing up for its 6th Annual Spring Clean-Up, inviting residents to help spruce up their neighborhoods over a two-week stretch this April.

  • The event, branded “Keep Crestview Beautiful,” runs from Monday, April 13, through Sunday, April 26. During that window, the city will station free manned dumpsters at three locations for residents to drop off items ranging from mattresses and electronics to small household items and appliances.

“I encourage our residents to take advantage of this free service and help us Keep Crestview Beautiful,” Mayor JB Whitten said. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, clean up our neighborhoods, and take pride in the city we call home.”

Dumpsters will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations: Old Spanish Trail Park on Stillwell Boulevard, Allen Park at 895 McClelland St. and Wild Horse Drive between 114 and 122 Wild Horse Dr.

Tires will only be accepted at the Old Spanish Trail Park location, where a designated drop-off area will be set up.

The city noted several items that will not be accepted at any location, including household trash, hazardous materials such as paint or chemicals, car batteries, construction debris and yard waste.

Residents looking to dispose of hazardous waste can visit Okaloosa County’s drop-off site at 1759 S. Ferdon Blvd. in Crestview, open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information is available at myokaloosa.com/pw/environmental/hazardous-waste.

For questions about the spring clean-up, residents can call (850) 301-2013.

  1. Is there a limit to how many tires can be brought? Do the rims need to be removed? We bought the vacant wooded lot next to our house, and there are many tires strewn throughout the lot.

“To get a clearer picture, what is the historical record of impact on the nesting sites? Is there evidence of birds being impacted by previous fireworks shows?”

“Happy Birthday Jeremy. I’ll see you soon buddy! I love you!”

“You people need to see the overall picture: birds are an important part of nature. Destin already lets trees be felled without any consequences…other than global warming.”
