A fallen power line shut down westbound traffic early Tuesday morning, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

  • The line came down around 4:30 a.m. on Emerald Coast Parkway between Triumph Road and Matthew Boulevard, triggering a power outage throughout Destin, the sheriff’s office said. Florida Power & Light was contacted and responded to the scene.

Deputies closed all westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes of Emerald Coast Parkway, diverting traffic to Commons Drive.

As of 10 a.m., FPL estimated repairs would take approximately two and a half additional hours, according to the sheriff’s office.

Drivers are asked to use caution and expect delays in the area.
