Eglin to conduct tests over Gulf this week

The 96th Test Wing will carry out testing from Santa Rosa Island into the Gulf on three days this week, closing portions of the water to vessel traffic.

The 96th Test Wing at Eglin Air Force Base plans to conduct tests stretching from Santa Rosa Island to the Gulf on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The tests are scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 21, 23 and 24.

All vessels are required to stay clear of the active hazard area during mission periods, according to the base.

Hot range advisories and local notices to mariners will be broadcast on VHF channel 16 and on HF upper sideband 2181 KHz by the Eglin Joint Test and Training Operations Control Center, using the call sign “Wolfcall.”
