The Gulfarium Adventure Park will host its third annual “CARE on the Coast TurtleFest” on April 18, offering an all-inclusive afternoon of live music, local food, animal encounters and family entertainment — all in support of the facility’s sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation efforts.

  • The event, presented by Valparaiso Coca-Cola, runs from 3:30 to 7 p.m., with VIP ticket holders gaining early access at 3 p.m.

“Every ticket that we sell is more that goes to the CARE Center,” said Mary Fomby, Marketing Manager for Gulfarium. “Everything that we raise through this event goes back to rescuing sea turtles in our area.”

Fomby said the event has grown each year since its debut, and organizers are expecting a strong turnout.

The Gulfarium CARE Center, the park’s sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation nonprofit, has rescued and rehabilitated more than 1,000 sea turtles since opening in 2015. Fomby said the cost of caring for each turtle averages close to $20,000, covering equipment, food, medicine and specialized procedures.

  • “Having an opportunity to raise money for that really helps to continue to make sure we have all of the best resources available so that we can continue to expand our operation,” Fomby said.

TurtleFest tickets are all-inclusive, covering food and drinks — including alcoholic beverages for guests 21 and older — from local restaurants and vendors stationed throughout the park. Multiple live musicians and bands will perform across the grounds, joined by DJs, stilt walkers, mermaids and pirates.

Local artist Kelly Pierre will paint live during the event, giving guests the chance to watch a work of art take shape in real time.

Families can visit the Kids Zone for crafts, games and conservation-themed activities, while animal meet-and-greets will offer opportunities to interact with penguins, baby alligators and other reptiles throughout the afternoon. A special dolphin presentation is also planned, and the full park will remain open for guests to explore.

  • “It’s a great way to spend the day, and obviously it all goes back to helping the turtles,” Fomby said.

Attendees can also visit the CARE Center during the event to meet current sea turtle patients and speak with volunteers about rescue efforts along the Emerald Coast.

Tickets are currently available, with general admission at $49 and children ages 3-12 at $29. Event T-shirts and commemorative cup add-ons are also available.

Tickets can be purchased here.
