Hurlburt Field seeks applicants for 2026-2027 Honorary Commander Program

Civic and business community members can apply through May 8 to be paired with commanders across the installation for a one-year term.

Hurlburt Field is accepting applications through May 8 for its 2026-2027 Honorary Commander Program, which pairs local civic and business community members with commanders across the installation.

  • The program is designed to educate participants who have limited knowledge about the Air Force and Hurlburt Field by connecting them directly with base leadership.

Honorary commanders serve a one-year term that includes up to five or six tours of each unit represented in the program, along with on-base functions and special events.

The goal of the program is to build mutually beneficial relationships between the base and community leaders, who will continue to serve as ambassadors for Hurlburt Field after completing their term.

Those interested in applying can contact the 1st Special Operations Wing Public Affairs at 1sow.wpa1@us.af.mil or visit https://www.hurlburt.af.mil/Contact-Us/Community-Engagement/Honorary-Commander/.
