Stuff the Bus school supply drive returns to Okaloosa County Walmart stores on August 2

Community-wide event scheduled for Aug. 2 at four local Walmart locations during Florida's tax-free weekend.

The Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation announced the return of Stuff the Bus, a community-wide school supply drive supporting students in need across the district. The event will take place Saturday, August 2, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Walmart locations in Crestview, Destin, Fort Walton Beach and Niceville.

  • The timing coincides with Florida’s back-to-school tax-free weekend, providing families and community members an opportunity to give back while purchasing their own school essentials.

Beyond the main event, donation boxes will be placed at various businesses throughout the county to collect additional supplies. As collection sites are confirmed, updates will be posted on the Okaloosa County School District website and Facebook page.

This year’s drive results from a partnership between the Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation, the Emerald Coast Association of REALTORS, the Okaloosa County School District and The Salvation Army Florida Division — Fort Walton Beach Corps.

The foundation encourages community participation to ensure every student begins the school year with necessary supplies.

Businesses interested in becoming collection sites can contact Debbie Tate at 850-974-0742 or tated@okaloosaschools.com.
