A woman was injured in a reported shark incident at a beach near Watersound Way and Coopersmith Lane in Walton County, Florida, just after 1:15 p.m. today.

  • The Walton County Sheriff’s Office and South Walton Fire District responded to the scene.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, one patient has been transported by the South Walton Fire District following the incident. The extent of the woman’s injuries has not been disclosed.

In response to the incident, double red flags are now flying on the beaches in the surrounding area, indicating that the Gulf is closed to the public in the localized area where the incident occurred.

  • Beachgoers are being encouraged to be aware that lifeguards and beach deputies may be attempting to keep people out of the water in the immediate vicinity.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office has not provided any further details about the incident at this time.
