At Bit-Wizards, community service isn’t confined to a single week on the calendar or an annual company initiative. For the Fort Walton Beach-based tech firm, giving back is woven into the fabric of daily operations.

  • As National Volunteer Awareness Week approaches, the Managed IT services company stands out among Emerald Coast businesses for its sustained commitment to local causes — from building beds for children who don’t have one to organizing school supply drives that reach more than 100 families.

The company’s approach centers on its Be The Magic Foundation and a workplace culture that actively supports employees in pursuing volunteer work.

Sarah Reuille, Morale Coordinator at Bit-Wizards, said the company’s environment has allowed her to maintain the volunteer commitments she values.

“Volunteering and serving my community have always been a meaningful part of my life,” Reuille said. “When I transitioned to full-time work, I was concerned about whether I’d still have the time to give back — but I’ve been able to stay deeply involved, and that’s something I’m really proud of.”

In her role, Reuille has helped coordinate large-scale initiatives including school supply drives benefiting more than 100 local families. She also leads outreach efforts with area nonprofits and organizes programs designed to bring families together.

The volunteerism extends throughout the company’s workforce, with employees dedicating personal time to organizations aligned with their individual passions.

LXS Fregger, a client success manager at the firm, serves on boards and volunteers with Fresh Start for Children and Families, Repeat Street Thrift Store and the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge.

Vandy Vela, a solution consultant, holds leadership roles with the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, Bring Hope Now and the Destin Fishermen’s Foundation.

Jeff Andrejcik, Lead Public Relations Specialist, said he became involved with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit that builds beds for children in need, after learning about the organization’s mission.

  • “When I was told about the mission, it was eye-opening to hear how many children don’t have a bed of their own,” he said. “It’s something many of us take for granted. There was no question in my mind that I wanted to be a part of what they were doing to help. Building beds for families in need is a simple way to make such a meaningful difference.”

Software Test Engineer Angie Smith recently led a computer lab session on artificial intelligence for the Okaloosa Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.’s Delta Gems Academy, a monthly program for middle and high school girls. Students explored what AI is, where it appears in everyday technology and how it can solve real problems before pitching their own ideas in a Shark Tank style presentation.

“What stood out the most was watching these young girls think about technology and imagining how they could use it to build something meaningful,” Smith said. “I believe it’s important to create opportunities for girls to explore technology and see that they belong in these spaces.”

Company leadership takes a proactive approach to community engagement rather than waiting for employees to seek out opportunities independently.

“Bit-Wizards has created an environment where giving back is encouraged and supported,” Reuille said. “It makes it easier to stay involved and reminds you that even small efforts can have a lasting impact.”
