Emerald Coast Science Center presents recycled fashion show on Sept. 27

The Emerald Coast Science Center will showcase creative designers and their wearable art crafted from reclaimed, reused, and recycled materials at its inaugural sustainable fashion show this weekend.

The Emerald Coast Science Center will present its first-ever “Reduce, Reuse, Refashion” Show presented by Waste Management on Saturday, September 27.

  • The event, which runs from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Science Center, features local designers who will debut bold, creative looks made entirely from recycled or repurposed materials in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere celebrating sustainability and style.

“We’re excited to merge creativity with sustainability,” said Kate Fox, Development Coordinator at the Emerald Coast Science Center. “This event not only highlights the importance of environmental responsibility but also celebrates the ingenuity of our community. We can’t wait to see the incredible designs our participants have created using recycled and repurposed materials. There’s so much potential for bold, imaginative fashion.”

The inspiring live runway show features designers who have crafted their wearable art using materials such as plastic, paper, old textiles, and other recycled items. All participants are 16 years old or older and have provided their own models to showcase the designs.

  • Admission is available with a minimum $5 donation per ticket, with proceeds supporting the event and creative prizes for the eco-fashion designers.

Designs are being evaluated based on creativity, functionality, and effective use of recycled materials, with prizes to be awarded to the top three designers.

The Science Center, located at 31 Memorial Parkway SW in Fort Walton Beach, focuses on inspiring and growing a scientifically engaged community through interactive exhibits and educational programs.

Whether you’re a fashion lover, an eco-warrior, or just curious to see what recycled couture looks like, this creative celebration of community and sustainability promises to be an inspiring experience.
