New restroom installed at Cinco Bayou Boat Ramp as Okaloosa County continues site upgrades

Okaloosa County crews installed a new restroom Friday at the Cinco Bayou Boat Ramp, the latest step in a broader redevelopment of the site.
Okaloosa County

Okaloosa County crews installed a new restroom Friday at the Cinco Bayou Boat Ramp, the latest piece of an ongoing redevelopment of the site.

  • The boat ramp closed temporarily Friday morning while crews completed the installation, according to the county.

The county thanked the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office for assisting with traffic management during the work and acknowledged the patience of staff at the nearby Whataburger.

Remaining improvements at the Cinco Bayou Boat Ramp include 16 to 18 parking spaces for boat trailers, improved access to the boat ramp, landscaping and future dock improvements, the county said.

  • The county said additional work remains and that further temporary closures may be necessary as the project continues.

The Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a $120,918 purchase order to CXT Inc. for the prefabricated restroom facility during its Nov. 18 meeting. At the time, county documents noted that prefabricated restrooms typically require eight to 10 months for delivery and installation.

The restroom is one of several improvements tied to a broader $4.1 million project the board approved in March 2025. That project included the acquisition of a 13,859-square-foot former bank building at 198 Eglin Parkway NE for $2.95 million, which will serve as the new Tourism Development Department headquarters, along with two vacant parcels at 4 Lucille St. and 254 Seaway St. for boat trailer parking.

The full boat ramp redevelopment also includes stormwater management, cameras, lighting, buffers for neighboring residential properties, boat dockage improvements and shoreline stabilization. The county will operate and maintain the boat ramp facility.
