Okaloosa County will begin storm-related debris removal for unincorporated residents on Wednesday, Oct. 14, following Hurricane Isaias, according to the county.

The removal will take place over two separate pickup periods. The date of the second will be determined and announced to residents following the first pickup.

Residents should place storm-related debris on the curb unbagged. Debris must be visible for pickup crews, and items should not be placed in plastic bags, the county said.

What will be picked up

According to the county, debris items include:

  • Vegetative debris, such as tree limbs, branches and leaves
  • Other storm-related debris, such as water-damaged drywall and furniture

Electronics will not be accepted.

Where to place debris

The county asked residents to:

  • Place material away from fire hydrants, mailboxes, power boxes, water meters and parked vehicles.
  • Keep storm debris separate from regular garbage.

Residents inside city limits

Residents living within municipalities should contact their city or town for information on debris removal in those areas, according to the county.

Who to call

A storm debris information call center opens Monday, Oct. 12, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1-833-495-3664.

For questions about routine garbage service, residents can call 850-301-2822.
