Week 2 Predictions

(4-6 last week, 4-6 overall)

Niceville 56, West Florida Tech 0

After a tough loss to Prattville, the Eagles will be hungry to get into the win column. West Florida Tech is coming off a lopsided loss to Walton, and Niceville’s roster advantage should be overwhelming in this one. Look for Deegan McCoy and Jakobe Gilyard to have big days as the Eagles trigger running clock. Adron Robinson picks up his first win as head coach in what should be an electric Thursday night at Eagle Stadium.

Auburn 24, Choctaw 17

Choctaw will be eager to bounce back after a tough opener against Mosley, and the Indians know a win here would be huge in the No. 1 seed race. But Auburn is a legitimate state title contender in Alabama’s deepest classification with a roster loaded with Division I talent. I believe the Indians will keep it competitive, but Auburn’s depth and talent edge will be the difference.

South Walton 35, Fort Walton Beach 17

The Seahawks are favored here, and their roster advantage should be evident. The Vikings are very much capable of keeping this competitive in stretches, but I expect South Walton’s depth to win out down the stretch.

Enterprise 24, Crestview 7

Crestview is looking to regroup after a tough loss to Lincoln, and the Bulldogs are a bit banged up. Enterprise is a top-15 team in Alabama, and with the Bulldogs having to make the trip, this is a tall order. I expect Crestview to compete, but the road environment and Enterprise’s talent make this a really difficult matchup.

Destin 28, Baker 14

The Sharks are for real. After a dominant 53-13 win over Port St. Joe, Destin carries plenty of momentum into this one. Baker is still searching for answers after a Week 1 loss to Jay, and I expect the Sharks’ confidence to carry them to 2-0.

Walton 35, Arnold 10

The Braves are rolling right now. Walton’s offense has been electric, and the defense has yet to allow a single point this season (the only score against them was a kick return touchdown by West Florida Tech). Arnold should put up more of a fight, but Walton’s firepower on both sides of the ball will be too much.

Freeport 35, North Bay Haven 0

Freeport is the better team here and should control this game from start to finish. This sets up a great opportunity for Bobby Johns to earn his first win as Freeport head coach, and the Bulldogs should take full advantage.

Rocky Bayou 21, Joshua Christian Academy 7

The Knights will be eager to bounce back, and with home-field advantage and what appears to be the stronger roster, Rocky Bayou should take care of business. Mike Conway picks up his first win as Rocky Bayou head coach.
